FAQs
What is the average cost of a local transfer?
The average cost of a local transfer is $150 to $170, one-way within 30 kilometers of pickup. Financial assistance is available from a number of organizations to help patients offset this transfer expense.
How early do I need to book to guarantee my transfer?
OPT asks that booking requests be made at least 24-72 hours before service is required, in order to ensure we're available to assist you.
Do I need to let you know any specific details when booking my transfer?
Please let us know about anything that might affect the way we provide transfer service, including the number of stairs we will need to take, or any pets or family members we should take into consideration when transferring you.
We will need your full home address, including postal code, in order to confirm your transfer request.
Can someone accompany me on my transfer?
OPT has room on every transfer for two patient escorts.
Is there an extra charge to have the escort(s) accompany me on my transfer?
No, there is no extra fee for this service.
What should I take with me on my transfer?
OPT asks that you bring only one small bag on-board the transfer vehicle.
What staff will be provided on my transfer vehicle?
OPT vehicles are always staffed with two certified medical attendants, one of whom will always remain with the patient. Wherever possible, we try to ensure that at least one certified paramedic goes out on each route.
