Advisory Board

We are proud to announce that for years, OPT has had the pleasure of maintaining a professional council to assist in the business management and development of the OPT group of companies.

Recently OPT has worked to formalize a Board of Advisors, which builds onto the current set of trusted advisors with additional areas of excellence, including: pediatric medicine, emergency medicine, communications, labour law, and union representation.

The internal OPT Board of Advisors works at the request of the CEO, helping to oversee operations, guide our policies, advise procedural changes if and where necessary, and ensure that our service standards are understood and adhered to by OPT management and personnel.

New in 2010: the Board of Advisors will begin developing the framework for a formal OPT Self-Regulation Guide, and advise on a consolidation of current Patient Identification Guidelines.

Medical Director

Dr. William Liang, M.D. serves as OPT’s Medical Director. In addition to his other duties as a physician, Dr. Liang also provides medical advice and direction to the OPT Board of Advisors.

Dr. William Liang is a staff physician with the Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation, in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Family Practice. He is on the Cardiac Surgery Team staff, and is a certified instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support. Dr. Liang is also Assistant Clinical Professor of the Faculty of Medicine at McMaster University Medical Centre.

Dr. Liang supervises clinical operations, and is directly responsible for establishing the medical protocols for OPT’s non-emergency patient transfers, as well as paramedic protocols. Dr Liang provides OPT with additional training and consultation services on a regular basis.
